You have just completed your website and are looking for a new way to generate traffic and users. There are a few ways to do this. Perhaps you write some blogs, improve your site’s SEO or use paid search options.
If your site is only in English, you are missing out an important consideration. Only 25% of the users online are English speaking. Hence, you are ignoring a large potential user base.
Our Translation Problem
Given that our company provided translation services, we needed to have our pages translated into other languages. When we embarked on this, we were quite frustrated with many of the current alternatives. We found the translation process to be quite ardious as well as complicated. Once installed, the plugin would slow down our backend and the translations would take a long time to load. The premuim options were quite expensive as we had to buy additional licencese for other websites.
How we solved the Problem
Seeing the lack of a simple and effective solution, we decided to develop the Scrybs Multilingual Plugin. See the below video for a quick summary.
Once the plugin is installed, you select your target languages, choose your language switcher widget design and hit save. Your website is automatically translated into your target languages. After this is completed, management of these translations is done all on one dashboard and is fully synchronized with content changes.
Yet when it came to SEO and performance, the plugin exceeded our expectations.
The Scrybs plugin allows you to not only translate all of the on page content in source, but it also provids the functionality to translate SEO critical parameters. These include Meta Tags and your URL. The latter of which is normally ignored by most plugins (to the detrement of your site). You can easily translate your URL on the Scrybs dashboard as seen in the image below
Once complete, here is the result of the translated URL
Given that one of the main reasons for translation is to reach to users, having your pages indexed by Google is a major key.
To increase the speed of the translated pages being presented, we made use of translation caching technology. The result was a faster load time for our translated pages than that of our source English pages. We tested the result using the tool by pingdom on the page for registering our professional translators.
As can be seen, the German page loaded faster than our original page in English. This means that our German user experience was not hindered in the slightest.
More than one Website
Having more than one website meant that purchasing premium plugins was uneconomical. We also realised that many bloggers and businesses tend to have more than one WordPress site. With the scrybs plugin, we decided to offer plans that allowed users to add more websites. For example, below is a screenshot where we have three websites on our chosen plan:
Use of the enterprise plan allows users to add as many websites as they like
Some of the other advantages of Scrybs are the following:
- Compatibility The Scrybs plugin is compatible with all WordPress themes and plugins. The plugin can extract text irrespective of the coding behind it
- Range of Translation Options Apart from manual and automatic translation, Scrybs allows you to order professional or human reviewed machine translations right off of your dashboard. Given that we have a cloud based community of translators at the ready, these orders can be done cheaply and efficiently.
- Dedicated Support Our team is ready to help with any queries related to either the plugin or professional translations
When it comes to reaching new users, a translation is a surefire way to meet these ends. What translation solution you choose comes down to your individual requirements. If you would like to try out the Scrybs plugin, we have a 15 day free trial as well as a standard free plan.
